Range extender problems

I have a tp link range extender installed so I can get internet to my co in the office, the problem is when it's on my devices that are connected to the main bt router get slower and slower until they stop functioning all together. Does anyone know any solutions to this?

It is well known that a repeater will slow down the connection both to the users connected to the repeater and somewhat less to the main router. It should not though get worse and worse. I am going to suspect a bug in the main router that is running out of sessions or something. I would try a firmware upgrade as a first try.

The nasty problem with repeaters is they use a feature called WDS to connect back to the main router. Although it is getting better there is no actual standard for how these fields are used so you get very strange results sometime when mixing equipment manufactures.

If at all possible you should run a cable to the extender and use it as a AP. This method is very stable and is pretty much how every corporate install is done.

Hi, thanks for the info. Unfortunately I'm in a rented residential property and unable to drill holes to run a cable to the office from the router. The strange thing here is that there is absolutely no drop in the internet speed from the extender and none in the beginning from the router. I Think a call to bt tech support might be in order here.
