I recently inherited an ASUS GL553VE notebook. I have been having some power issues.

At the close of the day, I shed my professional persona and become a hardcore gamer. I play on the notebook because my job frequently takes me away from home, far enough that it is not uncommon for me to find myself more than a return commute away at night from my home rig.

For MMOs--Lord of the Rings Online,, Everquest, Everquest, Civ V multiplayer--no problems. But when I try to run Amazon's New World, and a few others, with the notebook plugged into a power source,, within minutes, it seems, a small flashing black square appears in the center of the screen. The square features as ROG icon that alternates back and forth with pictures and words about the battery and plug, It's accompanied by a rapid draw down of the power in the battery, resulting in a shutdown.

My BIOS is up to date. I replaced the battery; that changed nothing. I reverted the power management to its defaults. Still nothing.

The notebook has two GPUs, an onboard Intel HD Graphics 630 and an Nvidia GE FORCE GTX 1050 Ti. I have posted a question about how to disable the Intel card in another part of this forum. The problem there is the games I play configure using the Intel card and not the Nvidia. Perhaps New World is overworking the Intel GPU? I don't know.

Short of replacing the power cord, I am stumped on this one. Help?

Thanks.
