I was wondering I have my Raspberry Pi up and running as a NAS. I want to try and add permissions and maybe a media server that my Roku can hook up to.

How would I go about backing up the operating system and files?

The install in question is a Wheezy using NOOBS http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/4100

I think its as simple as copying the contents of the SD card to another SD card but I wanna make sure first. Thanks in advance.

The easiest way would be to take complete image of the SD card and store it as a single 4/8/16gb file on a hard drive. You can make additional copies onto same-size card after that.

Win32 Disk Imager (http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/) is very good tool for that task. Just be careful when you write cards ;)
