Raspberry Pi Help!

Ok I am new to Raspberry Pi and I'm going to enter a science fair with my Ideas. I wanted to know, can I use USB to SATA to make up for the lack of SATA ports, put Free Nas on it via USB stick. Then I'll attach two WD Caviar blue 1TB HDD's and I'll turn this into a mini server. I will also be making a custom mini rack to make a scale model of a 4U server rack. Also, can I pick up, say a 128Gb SD card and use that as primary storage with Linux or Raspbien on it? I am also building a Raspberry mini PC that will have a ton of features like a power bank, solar charger etc. Thank you!
