In September I bought a rat 7 gaming mouse to accompany my new gaming pc. After using it at a moderate level (averaging an hour a day) and yesterday it stopped tracking after my game of tf2 Crashed!
Thingsnippet have tried to do to fix this (without success) include; rebooting, reinstalling the driver and the programming software, trying a different usb port, unplugging all other non-essential peripherals, and thoroughly cleaning the laser opening on the underside.
But it still won't track. Is there anything else I can do?

Thanks

Interesting problem in that I have had this happen also. I love my RAT7, best feeling/fitting mouse I have ever used.
Bought two a year ago 'cause my wife liked it also.
Sorry to tell you this, but for whatever reason your mouse has probably died. If you can't return and/or exchange it where you bought it, then get in contact with MADCATZ and do the warranty thing.
My wife's mouse died first: About July 2013, 6 months after purchase. It would track strangely, stop tracking at all, lockup the computer etc. I tried everything, even generic drivers. No good. Replaced with a simple Logitech mouse and installed their setpoint drivers; problem solved.

Last night, while playing HL2, my mouse increased it "acting up": A known problem with the RAT series is that if it is lifted off the pad, even slightly, your cursor (or in my case my rifle) can spin around and move and end up in some crazy position. This has been happening on occasion, and has gotten continually worse. Last night any time I moved to the left, I ended up spinning around and looking either straight up or down.
It, too, is dieing. F#$% !
Do a google search for probllems andd you will find a bunch; also look at Newegg's customer reviews - nearly everyone loves the customization, but the problems you and I have had are numerous.
Sorry about the mouse.

Thanks for the reply! I also now believe this to be true, you have confirmed my fears, but it's ok, I have a free one on the way from my pc's manufacturer, since I ordered the mouse with it! Shame about how it dies for almost no reason, but I will keep the old one just for the looks!

Thanks again

Hope this one lasts a long long time. I took mine back to Best Buy today and got a credit; I will have time to shop for a replacement later, but have reverted to my Logitech G500. My G5's and this G500, though not as comfortable as the RAT, have been really good mice; to bad they aren't customizable like the RAT.
Game on.
