This is the first computer I've ever built and I was wondering your guys opinion. It will primarily be for gaming and audio mixing.

CPU- AMD FX-8350 8 core 4.0GHz
CPU Cooler- Hyper 212 EVO
MOBO- Asus M5A97 R2.0
Memory-G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866
Storage- Samsung 850 EVO-Series 120GB SSD and Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB
GPU-Sapphire Radeon R9 280X 3GB Vapor-X
Case- Cooler Master Elite 431 Plus
PSU- Corsair CX 750W 80+ Bronze Certified
Optical Drive- Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer
OS- Windows 8

If you think anything should be changed I'd like to stay on a $1000 budget.
Thanks in advance!

Solution
The 8350 might be slightly better. If you are not going to overclock you can get a Xeon with hyperthreading that will be better than the 8350.

Okay Thanks ill check those out!

For that budget and what you are using it for I would get an Intel based system. The 280x vapor x is kinda expensive and there are faster cards available at its price point. Here's a better gaming system that's just a bit over $1000.

Okay thanks! The reason i went with an AMD build is because i thought the 8 cores of the FX-8350 might benefit me more because I'm planing on doing other things like Photoshop, audio mixing, and video editing. Do you think the i5 will be as good as the 8350 in those regions?

I would go with an 850W PSU, you never know if you'll want to get another GPU and SLI/Crossfire in the future, check out the EVGA Supernova 850 G2, it's an award winning PSU, has a 10 year warranty, and best of all: EVGA uses components from Japan, but not just any components; Super Flower, anybody who knows whats what about PSU's will tell you Super Flower is THE best you can get and that's what EVGA uses.

I don't think you can get any better on the RAM, I 100% agree with your selection on that, it's got a CAS latency of 9, and when it comes to overclocking RAM once you pass 1866mhz all it is is more heat on your memory controllers, so good choice :)
