You can do much better, but I would strongly advise you to wait for the GPUs to come down in price..

CPU: Intel - Core i5-8400 2.8GHz 6-Core Processor ($189.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: ASRock - Z370 Pro4 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($121.98 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory ($181.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: PNY - CS1311 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($89.00 @ Amazon)
Storage: Seagate - Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($59.89 @ Amazon)
Video Card: EVGA - GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6GB SC GAMING Video Card ($299.00)
Case: Phanteks...
Regular desktop tasks - 9/10

Gaming PC - 5/10

Sell the GTX 1050 and get at least a 1060 GTX. 1070GTX is great if you can afford one. CPU and everything else is fine and with a GPU upgrade it could be a decent gaming PC. 4790K is still decent. If you are playing light games like League or CSGO you are fine but heavy AAA modern games will crush a 1050 GTX.

considering what you could be getting with $1000 it is pretty terrible

unless it is for non gaming?

MadOvers is better, but does not have the Optical Drive, Keyboard, Headset, Mouse and Operating System included in the price, which Zerk's has.

If you already have the mouse, keyboard and headset, do not need an optical drive and do not mind a watermark in the OS, you can download the ISO off the Microsoft page and install it but not activate it. Limits some customization options but will work.
