Hi All,

I have been attending school for Computer Engineering and decided to try to do my first build. Being on a budget for a student, I figured I would look for parts at relatively decent price or for parts that are / were on sale.

So far, I have the following:

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x - $250 CDN
The 2700 was $50 more in case of those who are wondering.

Master Cooler Hyper 212 Black Edition - RGB
- $50 CDN (Price Match)

Asus ROG Strix B450-F Gaming - $140 CDN

Corsair Vengenance LMX 3000 MHz - 16 GB - $130 CDN

MSI RX570 8 GB OC -
$200 CDN $180 CDN (It came with The Divison 2 and either Resident Evil 2 or Devil May Cry 5)
I was planning to get The Divison 2 eventually so this was a bonus.

WD Blue 500 GB SSD - $80 CDN

Fractal Design Meshify C - $120 CDN

Corsair RM750X - $119

Thoughts on the build so far?

I will be doing web development, web programming and general programming otherwise.

Good start. The Ryzen 7 1800x does not ship with a heatsink, so you'll need one of those.

Get 16GB (2x8) of fast memory, a SSD, and a possible a HDD for document storage. What is your total budget?

Thanks! Would you recommend the board I have picked or would you say that I could get better value by returning the board and adding another $20 - $50 dollars to upgrade to the X470 chipset? I read that it's more future proof, but then in terms of functionality, I don't plan on doing any CrossFire / SLI so it seems a little excessive for my needs.

I also heard about the heat sink. I have been looking into it as we speak while doing some studying. Any suggestions?

I'm hoping hoping to have a total build right around $1000 CDN. A bit over wouldn't be too bad. I might eventually sell the build if I can turn a profit.

Just out of curiousity with my budget, would you say that this is a fair budget for a solid build?

I would like to add some RGB elements, but that's all extra for me at this point. Getting the build completed is more important for me at this point. I am in love with the Fractal Design Meshify C TG case with the Light Tint.
