Rate my first pc build

Purpose:
Game recording for my YouTube account and video editing in this instance. Background tasks will also include hosting plex media server, rendering videos in background too in this instance. Future proofing if possible.

Last setup:
Gateway ID58 laptop which now only acts as a server for plex and media. Been using it since 2009.

Recording and editing tools:
Fraps, Sony Vegas pro 10, xsplit, Hauppauge HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition

Using Singapore dollars, hoping not to exceed 2,500 for cpu alone. Peripherals will be separate budget in due time.

Thanks! The shop in my area will most definitely ship them in from US. Been reading a lot about whether a k or non-k is preferred but I won't do overclocking due to risk of damaging components and price.

I'm open to all suggestions to improve my build, if any. I'm sure there are ways to improve price-per-performance.

I have always read i7 6700 is a much better choice though. Is the xeon capable of heavy multi tasking?

The i7 6700 and the 1230v5 are virtually the same cpu. They are both quad core cpus with hyperthreading. Both have a 3.4ghz base clock speed. The Xeon just doesn't have integrated graphics, and is therefor about $50 cheaper. Performance would be about the same.

I think I'll pass. I'm not too familiar with xeon and much comfortable with Intel for editing, but thanks for that suggestion!

I am aware now. Just did some extra search on it and found this discussion on both cpus:

On the other hand, could I have saved more per performance if I went with i7 4790 with gtx 980 ti?

No the 1230v5 represents the best value. It would be perfectly fine to stick with the 6700, but I would probably at least get a cheaper H170 motherboard.
