I have this build in mind and have purchased all necessary parts besides the tower, video card, and ram chips (currently working on buying them atm) but I would appreciate some community feedback if at all possible.

This is the build im going to be using on a daily basis for games such as far cry 4, bioshock infinite, SWTOR, battlefield and other various games.

Sorry to say this mate, but that build has many issues in my eyes...

First off, why a 'k' model cpu if you are getting an H board which cant overclock?
Secondly, 1000w is overkill, but more importantly, that PSU is complete complete trash, suggest you change that asap.
Thirdly you selected high profile RAM (with heatsinks) which will interfere with the hyper 212 evo (which you essentially dont need because you wont overclock with that mobo) also.. its 1600Mhz, nowadays you should go for 1866 minimum, preferrably 2000, or 2133

i was planning to just build a good stock pc. I don't plan on overclocking any of the parts in it but i do want to make sure nothing overheats or gets too hot. If i dont need the hyper 212 evo, then i could always just stick to the stock cpu fan i suppose.

I`m sorry to say so, but you missed the chance to have a really great build.

You went with an H97 mobo which canot be overclocked, a cooler that`s mostly useless for the same thing, a 2Tb HDD but no SSD, and a PSU that`s a doubtfull quality (a 550W PSU from Seasonic would have been better). And the Case could have been cheaper in order to improve the performance of your build.

If you would have asked our help before starting to buy the parts, you would have been in a better position now.

Also, are you planning to be gaming on both screens at the same time?

Yes stick to the stock fan. But that just makes no sense for the K chip you selected.. Its like putting a speed limit on a race car..

If you want the cpu to stay super cool, go for a closed loop water cooler like the h100i and smaller brothers.

But once again... please replace that PSU.. a bad PSU can fry your system, cause irreparable damage to parts, and general system instability.

what are some good psu brands you might recommend?

hey,

your build looks very good.
If you want to oc your memory i would suggest kingston for a similar price ( more stable ) --> edit: sorry you wont oc
Kingston Fury Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866

As for the GPU:
i hear they 'had' some problems with cooling from EVGA.
If you want the fastest 970 ( which is a great card by the way ) get the gigabyte G1- series.

If you want the most quiet one ( i dont think so with that case ) get the asus-strix series.

your build is great, looks like it will be a lot of fun.
Just for reference my build that will arrive this weekend:

Yeah but like I said, i hadnt planned to overclock anything for the most part and although i do see how much an ssd might help boot times but not so much that i'd like to spend extra money to pick them up

From corsair: TX TM AX models
90% of xfx and seasonic

You can refer to this list:
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1804779/power-supply-unit-tier-list.html

As you can see... coolmax is tier 5.. it cant get lower than that...

That's the point mate... You got a 'K' chip.. which means its made to overclock.. so you wasted money there... you would have saved 50ish bucks on a non 'K" chip which would be for you.

Man, of course it is appreciated that people get input from many sources.. but you say it's very good when clearly it isn't.. that PSU can cause damage to his system, the chip and mobo dont make sense, the cooler and RAM dont make sense.. And yet you say its a great build? And to top it off, you want OP to compare it to YOUR build which costs DOUBLE of what OP has as a budget?

my dear friend,

i posted my build to be polite so he can see why i defend the items i suggested ( because i purchased them, not to buy my list )
His build isn't ideal, true, but it will work and it will allow him to play games in ultra settings, so it's good.
What is the point to tell a guy that ALREADY bough the items that his build is crap when he JUST spend 1700$? So he paid a bit too much for the cpu ( from the top of my head the price-difference is 30$ ), so he PSU isn't the best out there, PSU from ready-build rigs are cheap as well and they run smooth.

Maybe you were wise to tell him the truth, maybe he can return the items. I didnt think of that.

Can you return your items? for example the psu and cpu?

yeah im sure i can return the items for a return and swap them out for a different psu but as for the cpu, i got it about $50 cheaper than what it was anyways. 4790k (as far as im aware) usually costs around $340 - $350 but i only payed $300 for it. As for the psu, i was thinking of getting the evga supernova g1 but is that a good psu?

i understood him asking for a rating of the parts he still had to buy.
But since he can and will return items you were right and i was wrong.

Empathy thou art a heartless Bitch!

i have to agree with everyone else on this. i hate to say it, and im sure its a real downer to hear, especially since its pretty much there already.
if it werent for the PSU, you would probably have everyone say that the build is fine, but the problem is that the PSU, being the first line of defense in protecting the system, is more than likely going to cause your biggest problem. all this "great equipment" is nullified by something that was skimped on, and is really in danger of being paper weights if the PSU does something nasty.
will the system run many games on ultra? sure, but i would be cautious at trusting the system.
onto the CPU/mobo...we are all aware that you arent going to overclock, which is perfectly fine, but you wasted money on a K model chip. you would probably have the backing of most people if you matched a K model chip with a overclockable mobo, or a non k chip with the mobo that you chose. what everyone is trying to say about the chip is that the pairing of the chip, and the mobo, just dont make sense. you saved money on the motherboard, while you went overboard on the chip. instead, you should have went and saved money on both. i would assume that you chose the 4790k because you were mesmerized by the Ghz speed that the chip shows? you could have even saved more money and skipped i7 altogether, and went with the i5 for practically the same performance.

well i really do appreciate you guys helping me out. as im sure you may have noticed, this is my first attempt at a pc build so im still not 100% sure of what im doing when i comes to picking the right parts but since I made this thread and seen the replies i got i have since then shipped that old psu back to tigerdirect and requested a refund and reordered an evga supernova g2 750w psu from newegg and ordered my case.
