i7 6700 (non K)
Cooler Master Hyper Evo 212
Gigabyte Z270P-D3 mobo
Evga sc gtx 1060 3gb
kingston (4x2) 8 gb 2133 ddr4 ram
Evga supernova GQ 750w psu
barracuda 2TB 7200rpm HDD
Samsung 850 evo 1 TB SSD
Case: Corsair Carbide 270R ( 1x intake 1x exhaust)
Cost around $1500 CAD

6/10
I will shrink that 1 tb ssd and spend on faster or 16 gb ram
I will also try to get I5-8400 instead of I7-6700 unless you have specific needs for 8 threads
I will get something like this for 1500 CAD:

I do 3D/2D modelling, video and photo editing so I think I utilize the cpu pretty well.
The only reason I went with such a big ssd is bc it was on a big sale lol
I'm also planning to add 1 more stick of 4gb ram.

Thank you Vapour for the feedback much appreciated

I do not recommend 12 gb setup, may or may not work.
For your budget and usage, Ryzen 1700 is better build imo due to 8 cores, 16 threads for similar cost.
Since you have already bought everything, enjoy the new build, should do a good job but sell 2x4 and get 2x8 dual channel ram back later on :)

is there a way of know if a 12 gb (4x3) config will work?
