Rate my Upgrade

Hey,

I just recently decided to upgrade my gaming pc, so here is the original spec;

i5 750 @2.66Ghz
Noctua NH-D14 Cooler
P55-GD65 Mobo
Antec High Current Gamer 750W Modular PSU
SAPPHIRE HD 6950 2GB GDDR5 (bios has been flashed to a 6970 on both systems)
Corsair CMX8GX3M2A1600C9 2x4GB ram
500GB HDD Seagate Barracuda 7200. 12
Lite on Blu ray drive
Windows 7 32 bit
ASUS Vento AK ATX Case

Here is the final upgraded spec which came to a total of £746 (for the upgrade only, not the existing parts);

i7 3770k @ 3.5Ghz
Noctua NH-D14 Cooler (existing)
Asus Sabertooth Z77 Mobo
Antec High Current Gamer 750W Modular PSU (existing)
SAPPHIRE HD 6950 2GB GDDR5 (existing)
Corsair CMX8GX3M2A1600C9 2x4GB ram(existing)
500GB HDD Seagate Barracuda 7200. 12 (existing)
256Gb OCZ Vertex 4 SSD
Lite on Blu ray drive (existing)
Windows 8 Hard copy (so 64 bit version)
NZXT Phantom Enthusiast USB3.0 Full Tower Case - Red (I prefer the extra space of the full tower)

I also upgraded from a Microsoft Sidewinder X6 to a Gigabyte Osmium Mechanical Keyboard

I intend to do a bit of casual OCing, 4.6/4.7Ghz seems fairly easy to acheive with this CPU according to the forums.

Good choices, especially the Vertex 4 SSD, 3770 cpu and Phantom case for my taste, I have the white model and love it.

Thanks, thats a pretty nice setup you've got there.

I was considering splashing out on a 7970 especially with the offer of like 4 free games but in the end it was just too expensive on top of everything else for a good but generally unnecssary performance boost (it will be getting added at some point in the future)

My rule has always been, go with the best display you can afford first, then GPU, then the CPU. Youve got some good choices there, you should be set for a while. Go with the best GPU you can swing. Will help you in the long run.
