Hello,

I'm looking to build a new PC.

It will be used for a few things:

  • ■ Gaming (1080p, 144Hz)
    ■ Programming (Specs not that important)
    ■ Graphics work

The build has to be future proof and be able to run most modern games on high / ultra settings at a framerate preferable higher than 144.

I'd like to be able to do some overclocking.

For the budget, I'd like to keep it around €2000 - €2500.

Currently, this is what I have in mind:

  • ■ I7-8700k @ 3.7GHz - 4.7GHz
    ■ Gigabyte GTX1080ti 11GB OC
    ■ ASUS PRIME Z370-A
    ■ G.SKILL TRIDENT Z 3000MHz (2x8GB, DDR4)
    ■ SEAGATE BARRACUDA 3TB, 7200 RPM
    ■ SAMSUNG 960 EVO 500GB M.2 SSD
    ■ NZXT KRAKEN M22 CPU COOLER
    ■ CORSAIR RM750X (2018)
    ■ NZXT H700i

Are there any issues with this build, or are there any improvements that can be made?

I'd love your feedback.

Thank you in advance!

No problems, hope to be of help.

Good to see you're taking backup seriously, so many don't, no need for the second HDD, then.

Your call on the memory, but a matched 32Gb kit will be more stable and present fewer possible issues in the future, adding a second 16Gb kit, even of the same memory, does not guarantee complete stability.

If this is a business system I'd go for an air cooler, the big Noctua NH D15 series is still something of a class leader for performance and quiet operation, but not every one is OK with hanging such a big cooler off the motherboard, larger AIO coolers like the NZXT Kraken X52 rev 2 or Corsair H115i ( or even the huge H150i ) won't cool much better but do offer a more compact installation.

Good to see you...
The Basic setup looks fine to me but if you want to OC I'd go for a better CPU cooler, a 120mm AIO won't cut it.
If the programming part is to earn your living I'll suggest you opt for dual HDDs and run them in a mirrored array to safeguard your work and portfolio.
If the programming part is likely to use several virtual machines for testing, consider upping the RAM to 32Gb so you don't run out of space.
Can you link the build through PcPartPicker? https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/ Prices and availability vary significantly across the EU and you may be able to source parts at lower cost from another country without incurring import tarriffs.

Thanks for your feedback!

All my programming work and portfolio are already stored both in the cloud and locally, so dual HDD's aren't really neccesary.

For the VMs, I do use some, but they're never running at the same time, RAM could also be expanded later.

Which CPU cooler would you recommend for the i7-8700k?

As per part costs, the prices that I've seen are the cheapest I can get in The Netherlands and I'd like to order it here.
