So, by default, fortnite file is installed in program files and the epic game launcher is intalled in program files (x86).
I have reinstalled the my windows because freezing issue. But that is not the problem.
Before that, I only managed to backup the whole fortnite file which is around 26gb from the program files.
So, after the fresh windows setup, I install the epic game launcher, as expected, it doesn't recognize my transferred fortnite file and request me download the whole game again .... any idea to work this out?
I have limited data.. that is why i ask this @@... thanks in advance

Solution
Here is another method if the above does not work:

1. Download the launcher and start it up.
2. Click Install and pick an empty folder. Example: G:\Games (it will set install folder to G:\Games\Fortnite) [If you do not have your drive partitioned or do not have a second drive make an empty folder on C:\Games\Fortnite]
3. Once the download starts to begin, click the circle to the right with an X in it to cancel the install. The "Install" button should turn into a "Resume" button.
4. At this point, you will have a randomly named folder in the target location, such as G:\Games\Fortnite\.lysEB
5. There is an install folder under that which is downloading all the game files to it. Place your copy there but make sure you have the...
A program needs more than simply copying the game files. Windows is infamous for chucking important data into areas where you cannot see them, unless you know how to and where to look.

Some portions of programs and games are placed in one of the sub folders within the hidden AppData folder. Without that data being saved you will not be able to use the game files you saved.

Addendum:

Fornite is an oddball, if you saved everything from C:/Program Files/Epic Games [not Program Files (x86] prior to reinstalling Windows. Make sure you place the files there, not the (x86) folder.

Then install the Epic Games launcher, open it, and click "download" on Fortnite the installer should recognize the folder and it's contents and simply put the proper hooks in the Windows Registry and AppData folder.

Let me know if that works.

6. Once files are moved into that folder, click the "Resume" button on the launcher and the percentage complete will jump up and after a little time verifying the files, it will complete and button will be renamed to "Launch".

Solution

no chance, it just doesn't recognize it and insist on downloading the 13 gb game @@

[EDIT for my last post: If Fortnite is extremely important to you, you can re-install Windows, only this time partition your drive, so you will have C: and D: drives when done. Install Windows to the C: drive partition then in the above make an empty folder on the new D: drive D:\Game then follow the above instructions]

Note that I posted a new one to you, probably while you were writing to me, then I added an EDIT below

yeap, the launcher is verifying the game now... I realize your steps is pretty promising.. i just give it a try.. good minds ahah

this works... thanks
