Hello everyone :)

I've been having trouble all day today trying to setup my microphone on my Razer Chimaera 5.1 headset. Audio works just fine on the headset itself. I've also connected the base to my PC correctly (3.5mm cable from "mic out" on base to microphone port on rear of my pc *pink*).

In windows, the microphone appears to all be setup correctly. Windows recognises the mic being plugged in and present, however it's as if the mic is permanently muted - only it isn't :)

I've checked all the volume settings in windows via control panel, and everything seems okay. When I speak into the mic, I can hear a faint static in my earphones, but nothing in windows. The "bar" that indicates audio next to the microphone volume in windows isn't moving at all (so windows isn't detecting any audio being received)

If you guys know any simple checks that I can carry out to make sure that everything is configured correctly, that would be great!

Please, in desperate need for help

this will solve the static should you are hearing
1. Right click on the audio control in the start menu.
2. Click on 'recording devices'.
3. Double click on the internal microphone.
3. Go to the 'Levels' tab.
4. Turn the 'Microphone Boost' to 0.0 dB

also tori increasing the outgoing volume. To do this press and hold the MODE button on the right side of the Razer Chimaera 5.1. You will hear one beep.
Now you can turn up or turn down outgoing microphone volume using the volume buttons on the left side of the headphones.

hey Gaming God, thanks for the input, but it doesn't seem to have solved my problem 🙁 I've done all mentioned in your post.
I'm not sure if it's right but I don't have a "Chimaera" icon under my playback devices window...?

Yeah I'm having the same problem, I don't suppose you managed to solve it? (2 months later)
