I've had this mouse for little over 2 years and just now when the warranty is up the middle mouse button on the scroll wheel doesnt register as it used to. I use the scroll button click A LOT using Autocad for panning and it used to work perfect with the slightest click it would register fine. Now I have to pressure hard on the scroll wheel for the button to work properly.

My question is, is there a way to fix this? Or is it just now a hardware issue. Are Razer mouses known for this issue?
Should I go for Steelseries instead? Are there any other mouses similar to this?

the microswitch is likely worn out from heavy use. this can happen on any mouse and is fixable.

i have a razer deathadder 3.5g and had the left click microswitch wear out on me. the switches can be had on ebay for rather cheap (10pc for like $6, though you can get less for $1-2 cheaper) and can be replaced if you have a soldering gun and solder (solder sucker would be helpful too). the model number of the switches is stamped right on them.

the way it works is that the scroll wheel is on a spindle. the left side has a hex shaped head which fits into a switch used to control the scrolling action (also replaceable). the switch that i think is failing is the one on the right side. see picture below (different mouse but similar layout of switch)

what i would do is disassemble the mouse and try clicking the switch itself to see if the microswitch is working or not. keep in mind that the deathadder has a screw hidden under the center of the sticker on the bottom. you need to pierce through the sticker to get at it. other than that disassembly is rather cut and dry.
