Razer Megalodon not recognized/no drivers

Hello geeks, nerds and everyone else,

The solution to my problem:
Turn off USB 3.0 in the BIOS.
(I believe it was called something along the lines of "xHCI")

I'd like to start saying that I've put this in the Windows 8 forums since I'm convinced it's a windows problem, and no problem with my headset.
I've come to this conclusion because my headset is working fine on my laptop.

My problem:

Most of the time (about 80%) windows does not recognize my headset

Sometimes (about 20%) it's got a 'Set Adress Failed' error

And other times (not seeing this anymore) windows simply can't find the driver. (But it saw it was a Razer Megalodon)

What I've done to try and resolve my issue: (in a random order)

• 
  ■I've reinstalled Windows 8
  ■I've reinstalled windows 7
  ■After my Windows 8 installation was finished I immediately downloaded & installed the newest ■mobo drivers from the manufacturer's website
  ■I've uninstalled the drivers (while being an Unknown Device) and replugged the headset
  ■I've updated the firmware of my Razer Megalodon (via my laptop)
  ■I've updated Windows.
  ■I've installed about every Windows update (those kbxxxxxxxxxx files) I could find by searching for people with the same problem for multiple hours
  ■I've plugged the headset into every USB port in my computer
  ■I've set my USB Root hubs' power management not to go idle (put this feature back on, and off again)
  ■I've used Device Manager to try and find the driver 20+ times
  ■I've used this
  ■I've used 'sfc /scannow' in CMD
  ■I've installed the mobo drivers from the disc that came with the mobo

When did this problem start?

This problem started when I upgraded my mobo & CPU (to a Gigabyte GA-Z87M-D3H and Intel i5 4670K) and installed Windows 8 (from Windows 7) on my computer.
[strike]It could be a motherboard issue, but I don't think it is since the device does get powered (all lights on it are on all the time) and windows did find it earlier.[/strike]
Because I reinstalled windows 7 I am now fairly sure it is a motherboard related issue.

Oh my God. You just saved me a major headache second day in a row. I got a ASUS Z87-A motherboard and the Intel i5 4670K CPU yesterday. Spent hours trying to get it to work when I plugged it in again yesterday, no luck. So I went into BIOS and disabled the xHCI. Now it works PERFECTLY! Thank you so much! Never posted anything on this forum before, but I just HAD to make an account to thank you for this.

For those without a "disable xHCI" option in bios(MIGHT even work without disabling xHCI, so you can keep your usb transfer speeds unhindered):

Fix was surprisingly simple for me, considering all the threads i found that mentioned disabling xHCI, and uninstalling a program that was not even present on MY pc.

Go to power options: More Power Options: Change Plan Settings: Change Advanced Power Settings
Expand USB Settings -> Expand USB Selective Suspend Settings
Disable any suspend settings*, that are enabled.

*Should look something like this: http://imgur.com/D5NNY80
(There may be more than one option to disable, depending on your machine)

Easy peasy for all those that can't disable xHCI or don't have an Intel USB driver in programs to disable.
Hope this helps! Took forever, but I finally found a fix that didn't require a bios setting or program I did not have available to edit.

i had the exact same problem.

The way i solved it was i brought home a USB hub i bought for 7 bucks on amazon and connected them through the hub.

I have no idea why it works, but it works!!

I just went into bios>USB config and disabled xHCI

My solution was this one. Connect the Razer Megalodon to pc by an USB HUB. This really worked for me.
The only problem is that, if I touch the cable a little, the mic will start connecting and disconnecting.
At least it is a soluton. This makes me not to destroy this headshet for the moment.

Thank you for pointing me in this direction, one thing to note is that you do not actually loose speed when you disable the xCHI and ECHI hand-off. This is used for OS's that do not have the capability on their own such as XP or older.

So finally after 5 hours of trying to solve the problem I did it!
first of all, what was my problem:
I bought the RAZER MEGALODON used after I plugged it in on my PC it didn't work. So I thought they might be broken, but since the guy who sold them told me that they worked and I’m a person who tries to trust other I thought I should look for similar problems on the Internet and was surprised how many people have the same problem... but since it says that this HS supports only windows xp up to 7 I can't blame RAZER for this since they couldn't know how to developed them so they work with windows 8 or 10.
I tried them on my notebook and they worked so I knew the guy told the truth. But they still didn't work for my PC
So I read some posts about how to change the power settings on your PC to make it work (some people had luck with this one but not me)
So I read through the Technical specifications of the headset and recognized that it uses basically all the power the mainboard provides to the USB ports the thing is that my mouse and keyboard also are connected to the USB ports so that means not all the power can be provided to one port if other ports are connected too so I assumed that it's a problem with the power supplies.
With the new Knowledge I went to a store bought a AC connected USB HUB and tried to connect the HS to it and suddenly they worked.

Long story short --> buy a AC connected USB HUB and connect them to it and it will work.
