Razer Taimat 7.1 problems

I cant get these headphones to work. I just bought them from best buy and for some reason the volume knob isnt working but there is sound but i can only control it by the volume control in windows but i think thats part of the fact that i cant get them setup properly

I have a Gigabyte h97-d3h Which supports 7.1.

Ive tried updating drivers but they are all up to date
