RC and FIXMBR revisited

I have a hard drive with only one partition.
That partition is a "Copy" made by copying the
similar partition on my Master hard drive,
using Drive Image. Master has nicely working XP
with SP2.

This "Copy" boots to the black Windows logo
screen, than past the blacl screen to the light
blue Windows logo screen......but hangs there
and doesn't get to "Loading your personal settings".

Now that I have a Recovery Console, I'd hope that
FIXMBR or FIXBOOT would correct this, but just
doing either one after booting to RC don't seem
to do it. Instructions built into RC don't tell me
much. My RC is, I believe, left over from SP1, but
I don't know if that makes any difference.

With your 20 plus years of computer experience you should be helping others.

How many times do you have to be told to do a repair install? Are you really
that stupid - or do you have to practice to be so?

Well YOU certainly have no interest in helping anybody, only
in standing in the way of progress. If you have a link to
instructions for repair install......considering that the OEM
never furnished an installation CD......furnish it. If not,
go clutter up somebody else's "junk" file.
