My work laptop was recently upgraded from Win 7 32bit to Win 7 64bit to support 8GB of ram. Something has changed with my terminal services client.
Previously when I connected to my Windows 8 machine at home it draw the screen very quickly with what looked to be some digital compression (like a low bit rate mpeg) and then would fill in the details after. Usually taking only a second or two to draw a full 1920x1080 screen update(Like the background image changing, or opening up the start screen).
Now, after the laptop upgrade, the way the terminal services client draws the screen is similar to the way it has in the past: Block by Block scanning left to right, top to bottom. Depending on the complexity of image it is trying to draw it can take several seconds to draw the entire screen.
I thought that the new way or drawing the screen was an effect of connecting to a Windows 8 machine. Nothing on my Windows 8 machine has changed, so I'm left wondering how I get back to the new way of updating the screen.
Has anyone else experienced this?
My terminal services client is version 6.1.7601, and support 7.1 RDP.
Edit:
I have tried changing all the options on the Experience tab of the Remote Dekstop Connection configuration.
