I am having problems re-activating windows. I currently
have 2 days left. When I click the 'keys' icon or
the 'yes' to re-activate I recieve a prompt to say my
error has been reported

Hi

Try the following from Start>Run to see what message you get:

%systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /A

The message comes up

'out of box Experience'

The whole problem started after I dabbled with msconfig settings in an
attempt to install anti-virus software

Hi

Have you allowed the 'Out Of Box Experience' access to the Internet? It may
be restricted by either an AV program or a Firewall.
