I'm using an AMD 8 cores CPU (FX-8320) and last night I disabled the half cores to try something, but can't seem to re-enable them. In the corresponding section BIOS says all cores are enabled, but Windows 8 doesn't seem to recognize them, as the image shows below.

Any idea what could i do wrong?

Loading BIOS defaults does the same exact thing as resetting the BIOS/CMOS from the motherboard. You were in a situation where you could boot to the BIOS so you didn't have to mess with the CMOS battery or BIOS pins.

Also I believe you can limit how much cores you use through Windows. There should be something in msconfig that lets you mess with the CPU cores. Someone recently had a similar issue with a few cores not showing on their FX processor so maybe that was another way you could have enabled them
Try resetting the BIOS (clearing the CMOS in other words), this resets the motherboard BIOS back to factory settings, to do this locate the battery on the motherboard (unplug power cable first though) and remove the battery (make sure to have anti-static protection band or just keep yourself earthed) after the battery is removed press the power button for about 20 seconds to drain all remaining power in the system, then reinsert the battery and power on, did this help?

Thanks for your answer, in the end I managed to solve it and didn't have to go that far as to reset the BIOS.
I simply clicked on "load BIOS defaults" and it solved the problem, maybe someone else will have this little trifle in the future.
