Gia sou,
I did not exactly follow your advice to try a repair install because i
thought it was a bit risky and tedious, so i decided to continue my search
on the net for help.
I prefered to just delete or modify the registry but didnt know exactly what
keys to remove, so i visited some online help forums and sure enough i got
my answer. First of all i downloaded "hijack this" latest version, which
gave me a system log and identified that the file vbsys2.dll was missing. I
rebooted in safe mode and deleted this file from c:\windows\system32 folder.
I rebooted , connected with isp, opened an explorer window, and to my great
suprise and GREAT SATISFACTION i noticed the three LEECHES were finally
gone. I opened more explorer windows to be sure and up to now everything
looks cool. I also ran norton 2005 scan, and purchased a top rated spyware
removal utility. I got all the latest critical updates from microsoft,
scaned c: for disk errors and removed some unnecessary programs. The
internet is loaded with spyware and adware, especially when you download
free stuff. Well anyway, i just wanted to let you know what was cooking.
THANK YOU VERY VERY VERY MUCH !!!! I MEAN IT. ALTHOUGH YOU DIDNT SOLVE MY
PROBLEM DIRECTLY YOU GAVE ME SOME GREAT INSIGHT AND I APPRECIATE IT. ONE
LAST QUESTION: ARE YOU GREEK BY ANY CHANCE?

Hi Magos,

Thanks for posting how you successfully beat Spyware! 🙂
I'm glad to hear that you're finally back up to speed, and to
answer your question, I'm Canadian, but my parents were
born in Greece. I spent a year on Crete, it was beautiful.

You can find a good spyware removal tool at this site:
http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html
Works like a charm and has a few handy tools as well.
