Re-Installed Windows - won't update IE

I had to re-install Windows-ME.
All went good & runs great.
Re-did all the updates from MicroSoft.
All good except ...
I downloaded IE 6, service pack 1, (my recovery disks are IE 5) and that is all good but it Will Not install! 😱
Any ideas?

Why are you running Win-ME ?

ME came on this machine.
It runs Great on it. - Has since 2000.
Don't want to spend the money for an upgrade on such an old machine.
Besides, ME is almost impervious to viruses, etc., and is a lot like XP anyway.
(no one writes viruses for it LOL)
