That is a 100% maybe. Anyone who says "No you don't have to. It always works" is simply blowing smoke.

Sometimes it works with the original OS install
Sometimes it fails badly
Sometimes it works, but you find lingering issues later.

Prepare for a full reinstall. You may not need it, but you'll be glad you prepared for it if you do.

Just like any other drive. How did it get on your SSD the first time?

When you install, disconnect the HDD. Reconnect it later.
