Re-plugging the same HDD after replacing the motherboard (with exact model)

So I just purchased a new replacement motherboard (intel s5520sc) to replace an old one with the dame model after it got fried.
The question is can I just plug the old HDD with my system and get it to work? Is there a certain challenge to look for?
A fresh installation is tempting but I wanna try to avoid that, I actually do that every five years at best (I'm a 3D artist and have tons of apps and assets to work with).

If you're replacing motherboard with identical model, then there should be no issues (other than broken windows activation).
Just make sure BIOS settings are set to same values - especially for sata controller mode and boot mode.

I don't remember these so I will have to try (fortunately I have a cloned HDD copy).
So does this mean that also the apps activation will need to be re-done?

Depends on apps, but those probably will be ok.
