[SOLVED] Re-purposing a USB bluetooth dongle?

i have a plantronics usb bluetooth dongle from a headset, which no longer work,s is it possible to reuse the usb bluetooth adapter for something else - i.e. a bluetooth wireless keyboard for instance, or another non plantronics bluetooth headset?
When it is plugged in it displays itself under bluetooth settings as a "plantronics BT600 USB adapter"

No they pretty much are always proprietary to the deice they are for.
