Hello, I have a slight problem with my new system that I would like to share and perhaps get a few suggestions as to possible fixes. First of all my system:

Intel P4 2.4GHz 800MHz FSB Hyperthreading
ASUS P4P800 Motherboard (BIOS revision 1008)
Samsung PC3200 Dual Channel DDR (2x256MB)
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro
Western Digital 40GB 7200RPM Hard Disk
Samsung DVD Drive
Samsung CDR/CDRW Drive

My setup appears to fully support 8x AGP and it is set to 8x by default. When I try to run 3dmark2001se it locks up the system/video part way through every time. So I backed the AGP down to 4x and fixed the problem. My question is whether I lose much performance going from 8x AGP back down to 4x AGP? Shouldn't this system support 8x AGP?

Thanks.

heya campy;

it was a program bug with 2001se, there is a patch for it, but go get 3dmark 2003, it will give you a better idea of what your graphics card can really do anyway.

You loose nearly nothing running it at AGP4x, no eyes could see the difference, which ranges from 0 to 2% I think.
