Greetings everyone!

I was wondering if I could use my old PSU on my new rig, since I currently don't have enough money to afford a new PSU (They are around $150 each in my country and is hard with little to no job atm)

What I got in the current rig is an old thingy, Maxpower PL400 PSU, says Intel Pentium 4 and AMD K7 certified.

My new build will have an AMD A6 7400k Kaveri APU, 4 GB DDR3 HyperX Fury RAM 1600mhz, 500GB SATA3 7200RPM, XFX 2GB R5 230 Graphics and the mobo a Gygabyte I found for like $88

Did the power consumption maths and according to outervision calculator I would be using 220w at max without overclocking.

Should I go ahead and use temporarily that PSU (I think is from 2002 but is ATX 12v and has both connections for ATX and IDEs) or wait till I buy a new one (Most likely next year, but I need the system up and running soon)?

Solution
Sure, but thats an old PSU. If its OK working, then and only then use it on your new Rig. I suggest you upgrade to a new PSU as soon as you have the $$$. However you can use it if its still healthy.

Yeah, stills being strong even for the years it has.

There's any way that I can check how much power is delivering actually either with software or manual testing? I'll upgrade to a 600w PSU when I have the $$$ but if I can make good use of this one will always be great.

The extra GPU was "bought" from a friend, still have to pay him since he was building an FX-8340 based rig, the graphics didn't fit the needs and he sold it to me (Yet to be paid), I know that I could have saved money buying an A4 or Athlon, but prices in Argentina are so unstable that the case which came with a 450w PSU got out of stock (It was 95 dollars) and the only one available was a case with a 600w PSU for around $170 dollars (Which are not easy to do here, having in mind that $170 USD are $1750 ARS more or less). Of course I'll update the PSU and Case as soon as more money flows in, and what I liked of having the APU GPU and the XFX GPU is that I can enjoy the AMD Dual-Graphics system.

If I only didn't have the parts already en-route to my location I would of course switch the A6 for an Athlon or A4
