Hello, my name is Cuffi and I have a problem with my All-in-One HP Desktop PC. Its HDD broke, and I saved money for 1TB HDD, that took 4 months, and the PC stayed in the attic for four month with its HDD place open. When It had no HDD it booted up and said, Error: Missing Hard Drive or something like that. But now when I try to boot it, the LED that tells that is turned on, just turns on for one second and turns off, thus the PC doesnt boot. Maybe the components are frozen? Please help, It took me 4 months to get money for a HDD, I cannot afford a new PC!

``Maybe the components are frozen``

if you live in iceland of course it frozen

anyway just let the time to the pc to get dry inside your house ...wait for 6 hours approximativly
just let open the panels

@badboyrog2 Do you even know what you're talking about?

@OP Try resetting your PC. With the new hard drive installed and the power supply turned off(use the back switch if there is one, else use the wall switch) keep the power button pressed to drain all power from the motherboard. Then take out the CMOS battery (the shiny one on the motherboard, looks like a thick coin upside down) and put it back in. Also remove all RAM sticks and put back in.

If it still won't work, post back with what you observed.

Be sure to keep the PC and power supply off before you connect/disconnect any wires inside the PC. Trying to install/remove hardware while the PC is on is a guaranteed way to fry delicate circuits.

``@badboyrog2 Do you even know what you're talking about?``
i know what i talking about ..since i build pc since 20 years , and i know its not good to turn on a pc when a lot of humidity or cold temp subsist inside it , because you can short somes components

always necessary to let the pc drying for while and after check if its work well....if not doing the thing you said

@badboyrog2 I will let the PC near or a few feet away from my heater, Ill leave it over night and or the next day. If this doesnt work Ill go with @cst1992 way.

@cst1992 The hard drive will be late due to weather, snow, rain etc. I do not have access (cannot open the PC to find the motherboard) to the CMOS battery, but I will remove and place the RAM sticks. I will post again in 1/2 days!

Thanks for the help!

Well @cst1992 I left the PC in room temperature and close to the heater for 2 nights, but still nothing, the HP All in One isnt very user friendly when comes to opening it, later today Ill post some imgur links for pictures of the PC so you can tell me what to do!

The RAM is like a laptop's RAM, it can be removed. However there's a lever or some kind of arrangement made so that it doesn't move if it's not supposed to. You'll have to look into that first.

For a AIO PC, there isn't much you can really do as a user. If you manage to take the RAM out and back in, fine. Else you'll have to call a technician.
You already said that the PC remained in the attic with the HDD bay open(why?). That could have resulted in the PC not turning on now. Any number of causes, really.

what you did is the best you can do...
so now the things to do is ..if possible? remove the hdd carefully and reinstall it and inserting in the connector carefully
give a try..

if not work try removing the ram if its possible?
reinstall them again and give a try

but there is specs to remove the back panel

To remove the rear cover you must: Remove the plastic plate that covers the screws that retain the stand to the PC, then remove the 3 stand retaining screws, then theres a small rubber cover that has to be lifted to remove 2 small retaining screws, then remove the DVD Drive door it just pulls off, I use a small stiff putty knife or a butter knife can be used to pry lightley around the case to un latch the back cover from the screen and speakers, once the back cover is removed, remove the static shield from over the motherboard 6 small screws, there is a piece of black coragated tape over the battery, pull tape back to expose battery, remove and replace battery then reassemble. I don't know why HP used this type battery the CR3032 lasted aprox. 5 Years the EBR1225 last aprox 2 1/2 to 3 Years.

You were right, the RAM wasnt supposed to move, so I had to bend the sides (not the sides of the RAM) and it popped out, I removed the both sticks (2x2gb) and placed them again. But still no effect. It seems that I do have to call a technician. And the HDD bay was open becouse I had the thing that closes it in my "junk drawer" and the PC on the attic. Thanks for the help though.

Yep, it seems that I have to call a technician! I tried to open the back cover, there is no way of opening, searched the web, looked for screws, looked for pops but nothing seems to open, I think its made not to be open! Thanks for your help too!
