Hi folks. Finally ready to ditch my old circa 2011 i5 2500k and start over with a new motherboard. Feedback for a high-end build welcome.

Usage: Gaming at 4k, future VR, productivity, etc. Expect to keep for 7+ years again.
Budget: Not constrained :D

I'll be reusing:
Several SSDs, Seasonic 660w platinum PSU, monitor, some fans, my overclocked GTX 780 (yes I know this by far the weakest part ... but I just can't bring myself to spend $1k+ on the GPU. Planning to grab a 1080 TI when prices to come down.)

I'll be Upgrading:
CPU: Intel - Core i7-8700K 3.7GHz 6-Core Processor ($349.99 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: Deepcool - CAPTAIN 240EX WHITE RGB 153.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($109.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Asus - Prime Z370-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($164.52 @ Newegg)
Memory: Corsair - Vengeance RGB 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($209.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Jonsbo - UMX4 Window Version (Silver) ATX Mid Tower Case ($260 ordered from England)
Operating System: Microsoft - Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit ($99.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $934.48

Comments: I couldn't come up with a good reason to justify 3600mhz memory or one of the more expensive ROG motherboard. Assume I can always get a PCI card for USB type C when needed.

Probably won't actually use the RGB, but figure the header can't hurt even if I just keep the AIO on white. I might use LEDs on really dim to balance out the heavily tinted case. (do dimmer, less garish LED options exist?)

Thanks everyone.

Get a better motherboard for that CPU, if you overclock get a Z370 Extreme, not too expensive and pretty solid.
Also for the OS licence you can get online way cheaper legally, google. ;)

Thanks. I will overclock, but probably not push to absolute limits. Is your argument for Extreme around build quality, or is there some feature I'm missing? I spent $250ish on my mobo last time and just felt like I didn't end up using all of the features.
