I initially was going to get two 780TIs, but with the GTX 790 coming out next month, I'll either cave and get one of them to go along with the 780, or just get another 780 at *hopefully* a cheaper price.

What do you guys think?

All the best,
Tom

If all you are doing is gaming then drop CPu to a 4670k. also if you dont do video editing only get 8Gb RAm as thats fine for gaming. also the memory doesnt need to be 2400Mhz, 1600Mhz will be fine for games. with those changed made you might be able to be closer to getting that second 780ti or you could get a larger SSD. those would be my tweaks 😛 Still epic build, i need more money for an i5 4670k 😛

First of all excellent build. Next stick with GTX 780 or wait is purely your call. You can'l SLI 790 with 780. In order to create SLI you must use the same models (may be of any brand). Better get GTX 780 and it will be more than enough for your gaming requirements.

One Suggestion: Consider buying RAM with CAS Latency of 9 or below at either 1600MHz or 1866MHz but not more than that. In gaming what we require is tight timing.

So the 2400 RAM wouldn't be better than the 1600? They were just about the same price, so thats why I went with it. And thanks Easy, I'll be sure to just pick up another 780TI if/when its price drops.

Whammy, any in particular you recommend?

And I'll take a look at that Dan, I was mainly just trying to Future proof, and I do a bit of artwork in Black Ink, but not photoshop. (Black Ink is High GPU usage instead of CPU)

If there is considerable time in your future to be SLI upgrade then stick with PSU and update at that time, otherwise do it now though it would be overkill for you. Just make sure which ever model you pick it must have 60 Amps on +12v.

Regards,

Yea 2400mhz ram for gaming is useless. At the very most 1600mhz and the processor if you are going to be sli'ing 780ti's I would keep. Someone on here linked me a page once that showed actual fps gain using the i7 with higher end sli cards than what a i5 got. I think it was 5-8 fps gain I cant remember. Anyways drop the ram and maybe do an h110i closed loop I stead of a $75 air cooler? Also im guessing that monitor is gsync? I just purchased my vg278he 144hz 27 inch asus gaming monitor and its amazing! No screen tearing or anything and it looks so beautiful and got it for under 400 shipped. I'd change monitors and opt for something else. I too run a 780ti classified overclocked and the vg278he just makes the card look even more beautiful that it did before.

Do you have a link to that monitor by chance?

Edit: Also guys, is having the 2400 RAM going to "Decrease" performance compared to 1600? If so, what 1600 would you recommend? Mushkin?

G skill makes awesome ram for the price. 2400 wont hurt you but its wasted money. I woukd link the monitor but im on my mobile phone. Search newegg for it. I just turned it on for the first time this morning after it came in the mail last night and man it really is something else. Gsync I feel is going to be more for people with lower end gpu's to smooth frame rates and stoo tearing at certain times but with a well rounded and setuo system you wont have screen tearing anyway. With my setup along with having bf4 fps capped at 120fps j have no tearing and no stuttering and the monitor is 3d gaming ready if you chose to buy the 3d repeater thing. Look up the monitor its beautiful. It wss between the asus and benq and the asus got better reviews.

I'll see if I can find it azzazel, but if you wouldn't mind linking it when you get home (so I'm sure we're thinking of the same thing 😛) it would be appreciated! I can't tell what the HZ is for the one i picked up above, but if yours is 120+, thats amazing.

The only reason I got the 2400 was because it was the same price as the 1600 I had originally (Mushkin). I thought it would help with my picture editing software? XD
