Current Rig:

P8P67 Pro
2600K
GTX 560 Ti in SLI
8 GB Ram
1080p Acer 120hz
850 W PS

I'm running BF4 at High settings getting about 80 frames average. I am happy with the results but the rig is now 2+ years old and I'd like to upgrade so that I can play at Ultra settings and be ready for the games that may follow.

1) Looking at the 290x GPU that is coming out shortly....I am impressed with the numbers but concerned about the reported noise and extra heat (even though I understand it is "designed" to run at 95 Celsius). Will manufacturers immediately come out with aftermarket coolers/fans attached like the Twin Frozr releases? What happened to the Twin Frozr cards? Seems like they are no longer made.

2) Will 850 W be sufficient for the whole rig if I decide to get two of the 290 x cards and make no further upgrades?

3) Will my mobo bottleneck performance from these cards or is it time to upgrade the mobo as well?

4) Is it a good time to get into a 2560x1440 monitor? Why are the response times on these monitors so much greater than the 1080p monitors?

Solution
850W would be enough if the power supply is a good brand.

Motherboard and power supply should be fine. As said above, I would look into a 290x.
1. Don't quote me on it, but I've read some where that AMD wants a tight control on their R9-290x cards.
Hopefully we might see these card with non reference coolers like the Twin Frozr.
2. 850w should be sufficient enough to run R9-290x in CrossFire
3. Your motherboard and CPU still have plenty of life in it. No need to upgrade
4. Personally don't like 16:9, prefer 16:10. But they have come down in price, last time I saw as almost 1k
Here are some 2560x1440 monitors

Thanks for the responses, guys. I do fear the jet engine like sounds and extra heat inside my case...especially with two of them....and I also think about how the heat might affect the top card if you had these in crossfire mode.

I just found a video of the fan noise. It is much louder than I thought and honestly, it's a deal breaker for me. lol, listen to this! I can put a water cooler on them though right? I have never put a water block on a GPU, is this something that can be done or do you have to buy the card with the cooler already attached?

It can be done, but you have to be extremely careful.
There are cards that comes preinstall with watercooling, but they're more expensive.
The board you have should have enough space between the two cards so it will get plenty of air. Just add a front intake and side fans to cool them.
