PC6400 prices have been rising lately and it's gotten pretty expensive to make the jump from DDR2 667 to 800 at this point. I'm right in the middle of putting together the parts for an AM2 system, and I've heard they tend to make better use of high-bandwidth memory than C2D systems do.
But how much of a difference is it really? I mean, if we're talking a 2% performance increase in most situations from DDR2 667 to DDR2 800, that's not really worth $80 to me.
