I know that the 1235u is 100 mhz slower (clock speed) for the graphics, but aside from that, what is the relative difference between these two? I did read that while the 12th gen is 100 mhz slower, the memory is faster since it uses shared DDR5 vs shared DDR4 with the 11th gen implementations so I don't know if this evens out to a point where both behave similar....?

I'm not looking to do gaming, but rather some light phot oediting with Lightroom (will work with either processor/iGPU setup) but was wondering if from a GPU standpoint one is better than the other. I am trying to decide between a Surface Pro 8 or Pro 9. The PRo 8 that I found is about $300 cheaper than the equivalent Pro 9 but it has the 11th gen 1135G7 whereas the PRo 9 has the i5 1235u.

(I do know about the other minor diferences, like the headphone jack on the Pro 8, but that's not a huge deal to me.)

GPU makes very little difference in Lightroom. It only really assists with showing on-screen previews for the Develop sliders. Everything else is dependent on CPU, RAM quantity, and storage speed.

1235U has roughly 20% more CPU performance. iGPU performance is essentially identical.

Edit: specific GPU-accelerated tasks are selective (AI) masking, denoise, and lens blur. You'll only notice an improvement with those if you get a device with a dedicated GPU.
