Real world results of an OC

i2500k, 8gb of RAM, and an HD 5770. with BF3 playing, what kind of difference could i expect from running the i2500k at 4.5ghz vs. 3.4ghz? i'm wondering if my vid card is lacking so much that a CPU OC would not increase frame rates or benefit my system in any way (until i upgrade vid cards).

BF3 uses the CPU quite a bit in multiplayer so you should see a pretty significant boost going from stock to 4.5Ghz.

You are correct in that it will not help in situations where you are limited by the GPU. And you are limited quite a bit by the 5770.
