Hi All,

Fairly new to this, so please excuse me if this is one of those items
which has been answered before.

I'm having a problem with my current graphics card. Just built this
system from scratch

MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR Mobo
AMD 3200XP / W/CoolerMaster Aero7
MSI FX5600XT
Audigy 2
120 Gb Maxtor
512 Mb DDR

I'm trying to resolve a problem I've had from the start with my
FX5600XT graphics card at bootup, please can anyone help?

Here's my situation:

I switch the PC on - bleep - machine starts to boot. It runs through
the bios bootscreen, then I get the Windows XP loading bar bootup
screen. Then, after about 8-9 seconds, the screen goes black, and the
monitor just switches off (tho PC stays on)

If I leave it, i.e. not pushing reset button, the system auto reboots,
and I get the bios page asking me how i want to start windows -
safemode, load normally etc. I hit load normally or last known good
config, and windows loads normally. When its booted into the desktop, I
get an error which says:

"The driver for the display device was unable to complete a drawing
operation. Please check with the device manufacturer for an update.
The display device for FX5600XT seems to be responsible for the system
instability"

Intially, I got this message with the original driver which shipped
with the card. So the first thing I tried was uninstalling it, then
reinstalling with the latest MSI 5600XT drivers from their website.
Problem was still there. So I then tried the latest driver from Nvidia
website, and still got the same problem.

Has anyone got any idea whats going wrong here?

What happens if you boot to safe mode?
BTW I have the same MB and vid card as you and I do know
this set up does work.

Did you uninstall the drivers in safemode before you did the
reinstall?
