Really bad lag

Ok so I upgraded to Windows 8 and I wen't to go and play the forest it was amazing performance no lag high settings then when I rebooted my computer it's horrible really bad I don't know whats wrong with it. CPU Intel I3 550 3.20 Ghz Graphics card GT 640 6.00 GB ram

What do you mean by performance mode? where do I go to put that in?

And plus my Antivirus is AVG I also overclocked it and so I am guessing that is why because my CPU can't handle that OC power.

Put the i3 back to stock settings i dont think your suppose to overclock a i3 but for performance mode go to control panel under system and security click review your computers status then on the side bar should be performance information click that then adjust power settings and select high performance then try forest again

I did do that but still shit And I mean I didn't overclock my CPU I overclocked my GPU and that help with choppyness
But oh well looks like recording series with Minecraft is over :/

Check your hardrive for erros and memory
And make sure nothing is overheating cpu or gpu
Also try compability mode windows 7 so if that gives improvements

I moved up to windows 8.1 from 7 to help me with this damn lag because it did the same in Windows 7 as well. I am thinking it's trying to use my Harddrive as memory but thank's for trying to help.
