Really high CPU temps

What could be the issue with my CPU having such high Temps? This is after 10 min of prime 95 testing and it has reached 80 C with 84 max. Idle is way up at about 55-60 C.

You using stock cooler? What CPU is it? Have you checked your vcore?

I think the CPU would melt (if not blow up) if there was no thermal paste.

I'm using hyper 212 Evo with an A10 6800k. Just applied new thermal paste a few days ago. How can I tell if I didn't install the cpu cooler properly?

What's the room temperature when you tested?

Room temp is 70-75F

i doubt it --thermal paste only fills any small gaps between the two metals to help the heat transfer

it would run hotter than normal though

Redo your heatsink, clean it off and apply new paste, and make sure your fans aren't dis/misconnected.

Fars are all connected properly but I will reapply heatsink to see what happens.

So just took my heatsink off, reapplied thermal paste (wasn't covering part of the cpu), made sure the heatsink was tightened properly and I have a min of 44C, and a max all the way up to 83C. And idle keeps jumping back and forth from 45-63 back to 55. Any suggestions?

Ok another update. Downloaded AMD overdrive and the reading is giving me that I have a 36C margin which is pretty good for my understanding since the max operation AMD sets is 70C. I also downloaded speed fan (more reliable from my understanding) and they show that I idle at roughly 0-10C and under prime95 load im at constant 33C
