Hi guys, here are my specs:
i5 4690K
Gigabyte Z97X-UD3H
8x2 Kingston HyperX Beast 2400Mhz
Asus GTX 980
Lepa AquaCharger 120 cooler
Windows 10 Pro

I've used both "Core Temp" and "Real Temp" and it seems that even on idle my CPU is sitting around 45-60 degrees and when I do a simple WPrime test it shoots up to 100 degrees!!
I've built many computers before and I know these numbers aren't right.
Any ideas?

what version prime95? dont think over 26.6 is recommended as it shoots recent cpu temps way above expected

and if its a 4 screw mounting block did you tighten them in an x pattern

and if your pump is pwm and connected to a fan header you should be able to check its working

I'm going to ignore the Prime95 temps because 45-60 Celsius is very warm for idle. I wouldn't change anything software related until you've made sure your hardware is setup correctly.

Thermal Paste amount = grain of rice to a single pea seed. Too much thermal paste is bad.
Waterblock fastened tight to the motherboard
Good airflow in from the front with air exhausting out the top and back.
Fans are on.
You can feel the pump in the water block. If one side of the tubing is warmer than the other, the pump isn't on.

Thanks for all the replies, but the simple truth was that I DID forget the plastic cover on my watercooling block *smacks head*.
Next time I'm not getting high before building a computer!
