Hi there,
I'm currently in the process of acquiring parts for a new build. Which I hope can do some serious gaming and video editing. I'm used to playing games on my consoles but wanting a pc that will smash them out of the water in terms of graphics and fps.

So far what I have got for the system is:

I5 6600K
Sapphire Vaper R9 280X
G Skill Trident Z 16 gb DDR4 Ram.
1TB Western Digital Blue Hard drive.

Eventually I'm going to buy an M2 SSD to upgrade too.

I'm really struggling in what MOBO to buy. I'm fairly new to the pc world and have no clue what I am looking for. I dont mind spending that little bit more if it means It will be better and last longer.

I've had a look and have found these but if anyone has any recommendations. As I said I'm not very tech savvy. Thank you in advance.

If it's not to much to ask, could you explain why that particular mobo. I'm hoping one day I'll actually be able to understand all this.

Firstly, that 280x wont meet your "serious" gaming needs. Pick up a 480 or a 1060. Secondly, it all depends on the features you want. Is USB 3.1 a necessity for you? Do you really want RGB LEDs? Do you need a lot of SATA and USB ports? Do you prefer ATX or EATX, basically how many PCIe slots do you need? Are you planning to SLI/CF? Keep in mind with SLI the board has to be certified for whatever number of GPUs you want.

MERGED QUESTION
Question from nerdygeek12 : "What motherboard should I buy for gaming and editing?"

Hi there, I'm currently in the process of acquiring parts for a new build. Which I hope can do some serious gaming and video editing. I'm used to playing games on my consoles but wanting a pc that will smash them out of the water in terms of graphics and fps. I'm eventually going to upgrade the graphics card but it was given to me by a friend who recently brought a new gpu.

So far what I have got for the system is:

I5 6600K
Sapphire Vaper R9 280X
G Skill Trident Z 16 gb DDR4 Ram
1TB Western Digital Blue Hard drive.

Eventually I'm going to buy an M2 SSD to upgrade too.

I'm really struggling in what MOBO to buy. I'm fairly new to the pc world and have no clue what I am looking for. I dont mind spending that little bit more if it means It will be better and last longer. All I know is that I would like usb 3.1 and an M.2 slot.

Please be nice, a lot of the computer lingo will go straight over my head.
