Im lookin to buy another harddisk to compliment my 13.6gb maxtor and i thought that the IBM Deskstar 75GXP 46.1gb was the best bet. However after seeing reviews

(on this webby - http://www4.tomshardware.com/storage/01q1/010312/index.html)

of newer hard disks i can see its not the best. With the quantum and fujitsu and maxtor beating it 🙁

Soooooo i am wondering are IBM releasing a new drive soon to anyones knowledge?
Basically i really need to know what hard disk is best:)

btw, i mainly use pc for the net, gaming (quake) and im gettin WELL into doin my own webby so lots of dreamweaver, photoshop etc.
ANYhelp appreciated guys!

Well, looks like IBM is going to release the 60GXP series sometime soon... but I have no idea when. It's been quite a while since people knew about the 60GXP, but still no show.

So what do you guys think is the best currently for hard drives about 40gb in size?

For me, I currently use an IBM 75GXP 46.1GB and I think it's great. IBM has the name for reliability and it's fairly quiet.

I just got two 45GB 75GXP and form a RAID0. They are great! Work fast and quit!
