Really Old Stuff

In possession of a unit with dual type ram that cuts off and reboots on startup or simply freezes soon after. checked memory module which is a 512MB stick of SDRAM and it works fine. Also had an issue with the cpu fan which wasn't working properly. Have since swapped the fan but still having issues. Any recommendations beside throwing out the damn thing?

I would check all your cable conections. Also you can get some low end thermal paste and clean up the cpu and heatsink with alcohol and apply a single drop of the new stuff. You don't need much. I use a single edge razor blade or old credit card to spread it around. You can also try a low end power supply. Newegg has some for around $20 shipped.
