Really slow Hybrid Drive

I purchased a Seagate ST1000DX001. This is the 1TB Dekstop hybrid drive. My previous HDD was a caviar green 5400 RPM 1TB model. However when I first started using the hybrid drive my boot times were around 40 seconds rather than 70, a little disappointing. However now it has gotten to the point where boot times are around 90 seconds! I have tried defragging my drive but to no avail it only made it worse. Surely even if the SSD cache was working it would still be quicker than a 5400 Rpm hard drive.

HDD sentinel shows that the performance is 100% and the health is 100% too.

Does anyone know how I can fix this issue of the drive being so slow? Thank you in advance.

Try rebooting your PC three times in a row without doing anything else.

THe SSD portion of the HDD is only 8GB and stores frequently accessed files to the best of its ability. If you are heavily using other files, opening a program for example multiple times between restarting the PC, it would clear the boot files from the SSD portion before long to make room for the programs you actually use.

The Hybrid drive cache will fill up with the programs you use the most and I believe most of those drives only have 6 or 8GB's so there isn't much room. As the previous poster said reboot a few things and by doing this you'll load the windows start up process in the cache.

This is has helped lowering the boot time to about 50 seconds, but still extremely sluggish

Do it just a few more times. As the algorithm attempts to track and manage the programs you use, it might be attempting to regulate the storage space between other programs still.

You could also benefit from a RAM upgrade, 4GB is a little limited for Windows 7/8
