Question Really struggling to clone my hard disk on to SSD with Macrium Reflect , Error 0 and 23

Trying to clone my data and os from my hard drive onto a new ssd using macrium, and it hasn't worked.
Every time I have tried it will get 2% of the way through and then it will crash and display:

"Clone failed - Error 0 - Read failed - 23 - Data error (cyclic redundancy check). m_pSegmentToRestore->m_FileSystem.ReadFile failed WriteFilemSystemData failed RemapMFTRecord failed"

Now when I try to access the SSD in file explorer, it just says the disk structure is corrupted and unreadable.
I have tried for hours to fix it and nothing has worked. I've heard people suggest using the chkdsk command
in the command prompt to fix it but every time I type it in it says:

"Access Denied as you do not have sufficient privileges or
the disk may be locked by another process.
You have to invoke this utility running in elevated mode
and make sure the disk is unlocked."

Can anyone help me out because at this point I am worried I have accidentally bricked my new SSD.

are you running it as administrator?

also try using a different software to clone to that ssd, you may have crashed that ssd but there is ways to repartition ssds.

"Read fail" suggests a problem with the source drive.

Either a physical issue, or some access issue.
From your chkdsk result, I'm thinking a physical issue.


What are ALL the parts involved here?
Drives, motherboard, OS, etc.
Make/model of everything.

OS is Windows 10
The Hard Drive I am cloning the data from is a Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM010 1Tb
The SSD I am cloning the data to is a Kingston NV2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD 250GB
My motherboard is a gigabyte h310m s2h
Processor is intel core i5 8600k
Ram is g.skill aegis ddr4 2133 1x8gb

Disregarding the clone process, run CrystalDiskInfo, and post the screencap output here.

Now, you could spend 3-4-5 days trying to fix this, to be able to clone from. And maybe still fail.
Or simply bite the bullet and do a fresh OS install on the new drive.

Would the the fact that the SSD has been altered by macrium be an issue if I were to install windows 11 on a usb drive ?
Or can you remove partitions from a drive on the boot menu.

Installing a Windows OS via USB equates to deleting all existing partitions on the drive.
Whatever Macrium did or tried to do is irrelevant.

This is Win 10, but 99% the same for 11.
