I bought the game realMYST for Mac. The requirements say a G3/300 with 3D
card should be enough, with 64MB for MacOS 9 and 128MB for MacOS X. I tried
the game on a G3/450 beige with 512MB of memory and ATI Rage128 Pro gfx
card, and it's sluggish like hell. Replacing the gfx with an ATI Radeon 7000
PCI didn't help at all. It's a tad faster under MacOS 9 than under 10.3.5
but nothing to make it playable. I also tried it on a G3 bw 450MHz with
640MB RAM, same result. And no matter what resolution of colour depth I
choose, the sluggishness stays somewhat constant.

Anyone has realMYST running on a Mac? I got the impression that this game
depends heavily on the CPU and less on gfx. So what would be the minimum
system requirements to have a smooth playing experience?

It runs not bad on my 1GHz iMac G4 with 768 Megs RAM, but it was a pig
on my old iMac DV500. You should lower the resolution and the screen
size on a slower machine.
