Realplayer has stopped working - Windows 7

This started a week ago. I have Windows 7. Whenever I try to play a video or music or try to download with realplayer, I get the message "Realplayer stopped working" within a few seconds of starting the play or download, then it shuts down. I uninstalled then re-installed, downloaded the updates and still have the same problem. If you know of an alternative downloader that will work on any site or a fix for this realplayer problem, please let me know. Thank you.
