I have a mic slot and a headphone slot in the front of my computer, i plug them in when i need them and pull them out when i don't. My problem is that after unplugging them Realtek defaults my speaker configuration back to stereo instead of 5.1 speaker.

As far as i know there is no way to leave the mic/headphones plugged in AND still use the normal speakers (there is no option to swap back and forth).

Also i recently reformated my PC, and the when i reinstalled the drivers it installed a 'new' black and red themed version of Realtek audio manager instead of the 'old' white and blue classic looking theme. I didn't have this problem with the 'old' version, only with the new one.

Well the option is there, it just that every time i unplug my headphones after having them plugged in, it REVERTS the 5.1 choice i always use to the Stereo choice. I can change it back without any problem but it's a pain to keep changing it back every single time i take my headphones off.

I think my thread title was a little ill worded, i changed it a bit.

Hello... The problem can happen due to some MB's share the front panel I/O's with the 5.1 speaker outputs ( re-tasking )... some MB's have a full set of rear I/O's that will not interfere with the front panel ones.
And also I have found different versions of the Realtek will work differently... and thus I load and use the 2.70 version for this reason.
You can also have Realtek put a Icon on the Task Bar for quicker access.
