Realtek Audio crackling -- not latency.

I think this is a common problem but I can't find a solution anywhere. I have frequent audio crackles and pops with my Realtek audio. They happen frequently when multiple sounds are playing at the same time, for example background music in a game combined with sound fx.

After all my efforts, I have great latency (Latencymon) and it's always in the green and 20-60ms even with demanding games, no weird spikes. I don't know if it's relevant but I did initially have always-red latency until I somehow fixed it. But the pops persist.

If this problem really is as unsolvable as it seems, would an external soundcard fix the problem?

I've tried:
Rebooting lots of times.
Updating GPU drivers
Updating Realtek drivers from both ASUS website (older) and Realtek (newer)
Front and back audio jacks.
Disabling everything but "Speakers" device.
"High performance mode" - no difference.
Different headphones.
Making sure nothing but whatever I'm doing is using "Gpu Activity"
Closed non-essential apps/firewall/antivirus
Audio enhancements disabled, Spatial disabled, volumes adjusted.
Disabling Nvidia gpu didn't help either.

It's a new PC with almost nothing installed on it.
