This is such a common problem and now is mine. I tried updating to the latest known Realtek driver (i believe's dated July 2017 and this is what-Jan. 2018) and I can't even budge the audio manager to come out or if it's even a part of the realtek folder. It looks like it is where it shows RAVBg64 RAVCpl64 applications.
I just got these pro media speakers Klipsch and would like to hook them up but there's other issues with sound but shouldn't affect opening the audio manager. Does anyone have any ideas what I might try in this move to get audio manager?
Thanks.

I would start by uninstalled everything related to Realtek in "Add and Remove programs", deleting any Realtek folders you can see, restarting the PC, and then reinstalling the latest Realtek drivers from your PC manufacturer or your motherboard manufacturer's web page for your product. See if you can get the Realtek Audio Manager to open after that.

Thanks for your reply to my drivers issue here. The problem is when i do go to Dell's website, their latest Realtek, at least for my download, is dated back to 2014. I know that that just can't be right but I haven't been able to get or find any other Realtek from their site that would be the updated version. I'm not under warranty of the computer I bought but I would think that drivers are an ongoing need and therefore, shouldn't be based on a within the warranty time frame(?). So, that's out as far as the help from the manufacturer's site, at least from my going on there several times now, so if there's something different or that I could get drivers through the site, i would likely take advantage.

There is nothing unusual about that unless your PC was built before 2014. OEM drivers are generally not updated nearly as often. A laptop may have a most recent graphics card driver dated to June 2017 but the most recent nVIDIA one is dated for 2 days ago. I recommend trying the OEM Realtek even if it's older because it's tested to work with the system when it was new. There should not be any noticeable performance loss.

IMO drivers like USB or audio should only be updated if there is a problem. Newer drivers sometimes have issues sometimes

On other issue, do you think if i go ahead and remove the internal speaker (like the Dell tech support suggested) would that eliminate the sound capacity as far as the 2.1 speakers? Because when i disable the internal speaker, well then the external speakers can't play either. That's my other bigger issue as far as not getting the audio manager open to control both external and internal in the way this computer came.

If you are disabling the speakers in sound management and losing all audio output you can physically disable your Dell speakers if your PC has them built in. If you unplug the speakers from the speaker header on the motherboard it will disable the built in Dell speakers. If your Realtek driver is working correctly you should still be able to use other speakers that are successfully liked to the PC with another interface like audio jack (TRS 1/8 inch) or Bluetooth (assuming your PC is bluetooth capable or has an added adapter). Unplugging that header should not stop the audio plug ports or your Bluetooth controller from working as long as the drivers (bluetooth, realtek) are working.

Thanks again for all your info. and help. I am returning to the computer shop where i purchased the computer and i spoke with the owner this afternoon to explain what was happening and has since i bought the PC and he said why i waited this long ...for sure! Taking it tomorrow and he said they will definitely get that speaker problem corrected. He's friend that I worked at his shop for a short time during a time i was laid off, etc...I just felt like i'd learn and handle the problem myself but i didn't get too far thus far. So, in that I'm sure we'll get it going in proper order etc...and then i can delve into this issue with the realtek driver update that has the sound audio manager problem (right(?):) Thanks Man!
